As part of our policy to do a reasonable amount of local exploring, Amy and I went down to nearby Unionville for coffee and took a walk around the nearby Toogood Pond Park. Unionville itself has a rather old-timey pioneer feel, with picturesque narrow streets and stores geared towards people with higher-than-average disposable income (e.g. healing crystals, natural foods, cigars, Starbucks). The park surrounds a large millpond, and has been designed with wildlife as well as tourists in mind – boardwalks abound, and there is a lot of undeveloped cover for animals. We may return in the spring to catch the blossoms and returning birds.
