For those of you who still don’t understand my aversion to flying, or insist on your short-haul EasyJet breaks to Dublin, read this article in today’s Guardian. It sets out a lot of facts I sometimes have difficulty articulating.

Come the summer, I’m going to have to do some flying – it’s either that or not go to a significant fraction of the areas I’d planned to. I don’t want to, but there really is no (safe) alternative. So what’s a (supposed) environmentalist to do? I’ll happily donate to renewable electricity and energy reduction schemes on my return. I’ll continue to campaign for the environment and against airport expansion. I’ll probably go vegan. And I’ll certainly have a hard time not feeling like a hypocrite.
