Hot on the heels of Greenpeace’s decentralised energy report, our very own Department for Trade and Industry has released an even bigger and more detailed one entitled Potential for Microgeneration: Study and Analysis.
The report is downloadable as a huge PDF, and concludes that moving to a system of decentralised microgeneration will be difficult but achievable. What’s missing is the political will to make it happen. Despite the proven benefits to the environment, few households are willing to invest money in small-scale renewables. Why should they, when there are widescreen plasma televisions to buy?
